(CHERRY HILL, NJ) -- The promise of a new day has long inspired and motivated humankind. With that in mind, the South Jersey Pops, South Jersey’s own Pops orchestra, pays tribute to new awakenings in a distinctly musical way with “Dawn Breaks,” March 11, at Lenape High School in Medford. The group’s Spring concert will cover hundreds of years worth of music, from Bach to the Beatles and beyond, celebrating the transition from dark to dawn.
The performance features the return of guest vocalist Elio Lleo, a New Jersey native who has loaned his voice to the Westminster Symphonic Choir and was a 2014 New Jersey Perry Award Nominee for his turn as Inspector Javert in Playful Theatre Productions’ presentation of Les Miserables. The Audubon High School Chorus will also provide vocals.
Selections will include the instantly recognizable Also Sprach Zarathustra - Introduction (Theme from 2001 A Space Odyssey); Sunrise, Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof; Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Tomorrow from Annie, Here Comes the Sun, and much more.
“Dawn Breaks” will be conducted by Robert Bradshaw, who was named music director in 2017. Bradshaw, the founder and director of the Haddonfield School of Music, has been directing musical ensembles for 15 years.
The South Jersey Pops presents “Dawn Breaks” on March 11, 2018 at 3:00pm, at Lenape High School, 235 Hartford Road, Medford. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or online. Children under 13 are free. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance.
