SOPAC Presents Gaelic Storm

(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- Gaelic Storm, multi-national Celtic-fusion band will play their way to the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) stage Friday, June 2 at 8:00pm. The eclectic band has been touring for two decades, gaining acclaim by playing their infectious and foot-pounding song “Irish Party in Third Class” in the blockbuster hit Titanic. This versatile band has a hand and foot in every genre from Bluegrass, to Country-Rock and Rock ‘n Roll, and has just released their new album Matching Sweaters.

Coming up on their 20th anniversary, Gaelic Storm is leaving it all on the stage. "We'll push the envelope, then reel it back in, then push it again," says front man Patrick Murphy. "There's a lot of variety here, and that's why we can play Country festivals, Bluegrass festivals and Rock festivals, and still fit in perfectly with each one. We wanted Matching Sweaters to reflect that range, so people could buy the CD and hear everything we're able to do in concert."

Their most recent album Matching Sweaters is a testament to their ever-changing sound moving from drinking songs (“Another Stupid Drinking Song”) to energetic instrumentals (“The Narwhaling Cheesehead”) to Rootsy Pop/Rockers (“Whiskeyed Up and Womaned Out”), gluing everything together with the spark and spirit of a band that’s spent close to 20 years on the road.

Tickets are on sale now and are $35-48. They can be purchased at www.Sopacnow.org/gaelic-storm/  or by calling the box office at (973)-313-2787. SOPAC is located at One SOPAC Way in South Orange, New Jersey.

The Newton Theatre presents Jim Messina

(NEWTON, NJ) -- Few musical artists résumés list membership in a band inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; fewer still can lay claim to being a founding member of the seminal band credited with creating Country Rock; and only one artist can include all the above in addition to being one half of the most successful duos of the 1970s: Jim Messina. He's been a member of Buffalo Springfield and would go on to form the band Poco and then Loggins & Messina with Kenny Loggins.
