(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- The Institute of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Raritan Valley Community College will present two online webinars in September dealing with the theme of "Learning from the Struggles of Racial Injustice: Both Here and Abroad." The programs, which are free of charge and open to the public, will run as Zoom webinars and include live discussions and question-and-answer segments, on September 10 and September 17.
Speaking from Germany, Dr. Susan Neiman will talk about her book, Learning from the Germans: Race and the Memory of Evil, Thursday, September 10 at 10:00am. In the wake of white nationalist attacks, the ongoing debate over reparations, and the controversy surrounding Confederate monuments and the contested memories they evoke, Neiman’s Learning from the Germans delivers an urgently needed perspective on how a country can come to terms with its historical injustice.
Addressing the group from South Africa on Thursday, September 17 at 10:00am, Antoinette Sithole will share the difficulties she faced growing up during apartheid, the impact of losing her brother, and her current efforts to educate and inform people.
