Ridgewood Gilbert and Sullivan Presents "The Sorcerer"

originally published: 10/28/2016

(RIDGEWOOD, NJ) -- Ridgewood Gilbert and Sullivan is proud to perform the musical production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Sorcerer (not to be mistaken with Walt Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice). This musical tells the timeless story of a man who refuses to believe that men and women should marry only those of the same social class.  He hires a sorcerer to make each man in the village fall in love with the first eligible woman he sees —and chaos ensues.

Performance take place on Saturday, November 19, at 7:30pm and Sunday, November 20, at 3:00pm at the Ridgewood United Methodist Church, 100 Dayton Street in Ridgewood, NJ; and also on Sunday, November 27, at 3:00pm, at the Fair Lawn Community Center, 10-10 20th Street in Fair Lawn, NJ.

All tickets are $20 in advance and $22 at the door.  Visit ridgewoodgands.com for more information and tickets.  Children ages 12 and under are free.

The Sorcerer has a rich and whimsical score that tells the story in a way that’s entertaining and cleverly articulate! The production is co-directed by Milly Gonzalez (Kearny, NJ) and Paul Geidel (Bronx, NY). Leading players include Joe Rothstein (Elizabeth, NJ), Eric Balboni (Bergenfield, NJ), Michael Celentano (Forest Hills, NY), John Holmboe (Pearl River, NY), Eileen Karlson (Teaneck, NJ), Eileen Mager (Haworth,NJ), Chloe Nevill (Ringwood, NJ), Lauren Green (New York, NY), Claire Tsiporukha (Constance), Peter O’Malley (Oakland, NJ), and Dorothy Wallace (North Bergen, NJ). A men and women’s ensemble is also featured.
