(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Summer Theater’s 2015 season, which focused on themes of adaption and myth, will come to a close with Obie Award-Winning playwright Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice. The final show of PST’s season opens August 6 at the Hamilton Murray Theater on Princeton University’s campus.
Eurydice is a whimsical and touching adaptation of the classic Orpheus myth from the perspective of its heroine, Orpheus’ bride Eurydice. After dying on her wedding day, Eurydice must face a choice: to stay in the underworld with her beloved father, or to return to the world of the living to reunite with the husband she left behind. Featuring music, a chorus of speaking stones, and world of colorful string, Eurydice is lyrical, charmingly funny, and, ultimately, a poignant reflection on the pain of loss and love that we all experience.
Starring Caroline Hertz (Eurydice). Also featuring Brad Wilson (Orpheus), Evan Thompson (Eurydice’s Father), Ross Barron (Nasty Interesting Man/Lord of the Underworld), Maeve Brady (Little Stone), Kanoa Mulling (Big Stone), and Bits Sola (Loud Stone). Featuring original music by Vince Di Mura and Steven Tran.
Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl, directed by PST Artistic Director Wesley Cornwell. Opens Thursday, August 6th. Performances run August 6-9 and 13-16. Thursday-Saturday at 8pm, Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. Special talkbacks with the cast follow every Friday evening performance.
Tickets are $27.50 for general admission, $22 for students and matinees. To order tickets, visit http://www.princetonsummertheater.org/ or call the PST box office at 732-997-0205.
