(COLLINGSWOOD, NJ) -- Perkins Center for the Arts presents its Photography 37 Winners Exhibition from March 9 through April 13. The Photography exhibition series exemplifies the best and most innovative work by photographers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond; this event is held annually and named sequentially. On display are collections by exhibition award winners John Clarke of Pennington, NJ, Annarita Gentile of Philadelphia, PA and Aubrey J. Kauffman of Ewing, NJ.
The Photography 37 exhibition was held in February 2018, and three exhibitors were identified as Curators Award winners at that time; these winners are rewarded with a full gallery show, the Photography 37 Winners Exhibition, to open with a public reception on its first evening. Juror for this 2018 exhibition was Hope Proper, renowned collector and former Curator of Exhibitions and Founder of Perkins Center’s Photography Exhibition. Peter Barberie, Curator of Photographs for The Philadelphia Museum of Art, makes a selection from each Photography show for the museum’s permanent collection.
"As a photographer, I aim to reflect the world around me as I experience it," explained Annarita Gentile. "That is saying a lot, to try to show in an image a personal experience. Some of this aim is accomplished through composition and editing as a result of an individual process and a lot of luck."
Aubrey J. Kauffman said, "I have often found inspiration around the themes of urban architecture and man’s impact on the environment. This landscape has long challenged me artistically and intellectually. Through my lens I explore the relationship of structures and simple everyday objects. I stop and look at the images and places that we pass by day-to-day."
John Clarke has devoted his artistic talents to fine art photography since retiring from architectural practice. His background as an architect is evident in the composition and structure of his photos. A life time of looking intensely at his surrounding is evident in the quality of his images.
Art collectors and the public are invited to attend and enjoy an opening reception on March 9th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Collingswood campus. Pieces displayed are available for acquisition. The exhibit will remain open to the public for enjoyment and acquisition from March 9 through April 13 during Collingswood gallery operating hours, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10:00am – 2:00pm, or by appointment.
Perkins Center for the Arts nonprofit organization was founded in 1977; campuses include the historic 1910 Tudor-based headquarters and adjacent arboretum in Moorestown, Burlington County, as well as an art center housed in a former printing press in Collingswood, Camden County.
