(TRENTON, NJ) -- Passage Theatre Company, a professional theatre company in residence at the Mill Hill Playhouse in Trenton, New Jersey, has announced the appointment of two new administrators to their roster of artistic leaders. Brishen Miller and Jamel Baker will be the company’s Managing Director and Lead Producer, respectively. Both artists bring a wide depth of experience and artistic merit, including previous engagements at Passage, to their new roles.
“We are thrilled that Brishen and Jamel are continuing their excellent work at Passage in their two new positions,” notes Artistic Director C. Ryanne Domingues. “It is a pleasure to watch members of the Passage family grow into larger roles with the company, and we cannot wait to welcome them as they continue to work to embody our mission.”
Brishen Miller originally hails from Kalamazoo, MI where he was a Managing Partner of Fancy Pants Theater from 2010-2014. He received a BA in Theatre from Wayne State University in Detroit in 2007, where he was seen onstage as Bynum in Joe Turner’s Come and Gone and served as Score Composer/Arranger of Othello and Adventures of a Black Girl in Search of God. Returning to Kalamazoo, he helped establish Fancy Pants Theater from the ground up, directing shows such as A Thousand Clowns and Kiss of the Spiderwoman, and appearing in many roles such as John Proctor in The Crucible. Brishen moved from Michigan to Pennsylvania and received an MA from Villanova University in 2018, where he gained the honor of Acting Scholar as well as studying as a director, scene carpenter, dramaturg and production manager. A true Jack-of-all-trades, Brishen has held every role in theatrical production. He has been Passage’s production manager since July of 2019. In June of 2021, Passage converted the position into Lead Producer to better capture his skills. Brishen is exhilarated to step into the Managing Director position at Passage Theatre Company. This, he feels, is the destined culmination of a 19-year career in theatre.
Jamel Baker holds a BFA from Millersville University and has worked as a freelance stage manager for many companies, including EgoPo, Azuka, Simpatico and others. He's also worked as a PA for Philadelphia Theatre Company and is a company member (as well as stage manager) for Tribe of Fools.
Passage Theatre’s 2021-22 season begins in February 2022 with the world premiere of The OK Trenton Project. Tickets and more information can be found at https://www.passagetheatre.org.
