Old Library Theatre presents: Oliver!

originally published: 07/22/2016
Old Library Theatre presents: Oliver!(FAIR LAWN, NJ) -- Old Library Theatre presents Oliver! weekends from July 29 to August 7 at George Frey Center for Arts and Recreation in Fair Lawn. With music, book, and lyrics by Lionel Bart, Oliver! brings Charles Dickens' beloved novel to life, taking audiences on a wild adventure through Victorian England.

Join young, orphaned Oliver Twist as he navigates the London’s underworld of theft and violence, searching for a home, a family and – most importantly – love. When Oliver is picked up on the street by a boy named the Artful Dodger, he is welcomed into a gang of child pickpockets led by the conniving, but charismatic, Fagin. When Oliver is falsely accused of a theft he didn’t commit, he is rescued by a kind of wealthy gentleman. Caught in the middle is the warm-hearted Nancy, who is trapped under the violent thumb of Fagin’s sidekick, but desperate to help Oliver. Spirited and timeless, Oliver! is a musical classic.

Additionally, the cast and crew of Oliver! will be helping hungry families in their community with a “Food, Glorious Food Drive,” collecting donations for the local Hackensack location of The Center for Food and Action (CFA). CFA is committed to combatting hunger and homelessness and asks for monetary and non-perishable donations to meet its goals. There will be a donation station located in the lobby at each of our six performances, and anyone who makes a donation will get a coupon for one free refreshment item!
