(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Ocean County College Repertory Theatre Presents Sweeney Todd July 10 through July 20. Sweenet Todd is a story of desperate love, set in Victorian London. It is a tale of an ordinary man, who had everything, until it was taken from him by a corrupt man, who sent him to prison for life. Thus begins the journey of bitterness and revenge. Murder, mayhem and meat pies ensue all spiced with delicious comic relief, irreverent black humor, and a fascinating and lurid cast of characters. This amazing musical was nominated for 9 Tony Awards during its original Broadway run, winning 8 including Best Musical! A must-see for all theatrelovers!
Music & lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by Hugh Wheeler, the play is from an adaptation by Christopher Bond. The production, directed by Paul Chalakani, runs July 10, 11, 18 at 7:30pm; July 12 & 19 at 8pm; and July 13 & 2pm.
