Nutley Little Theatre will open its production of the all-American musical “Tintypes,” on Friday, June 12, 8 p.m., at the NLT Barn, 47 Erie Place, Nutley. Evening performances will be on June 12, 13, 19, 20, 25, 26 and 27, all at 8 p.m. Matinee performances are on June 14, 21 and 27, all at 2 p.m. The opening night performance on June 12 is for the benefit of the Nutley Historical Society.
Ron Mulligan of Parsippany is the director. Marsha Schreier of Verona is the musical director and Shona Roebuck of Maplewood is choreographer. The cast includes George Adamo of Cedar Grove, Alex Oleksij of Nutley, Leslie Dixon Silverman of West Milford, Juliana Valente of Wayne and Laura Iacometta of Rochelle Park. Lighting design is by Jennifer McManus of Belleville and set design is by Ron Mulligan. Costumer is Robin Matthews of Kinnelon, and props coordinator is Carrie Fitzpatrick of Wayne.
“Tintypes” was conceived by Mary Kyte with Mel Marvin and Gary Pearle. The wonder and excitement of America at the turn of the 20th Century are captured in this expansive yet intimate musical revue. Reminiscent of “Ragtime,” historical figures mingle with common folk to tell the story of a young upstart country about to take the center of a world stage. George M. Cohan, John Philip Sousa and Scott Joplin are just a few of the great American composers celebrated in this musical pageant.
