NJPAC Presents Classical Pianist Extraordinaire Lang Lang

(NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents an evening with an exuberant citizen of the entire world. A classical artist of the first order. Who else but pianist Lang Lang? Catch him in a solo recital in Prudential Hall – a night you’ll never forget, on Saturday, September 26, 2015 8:00 PM at Prudential Hall.

Not just anyone in classical music could perform before a worldwide audience of possibly billions at the 2014 World Cup in Rio (with Plácido Domingo) and, a few months later, release an elegant, fluent, to-the-manner-born CD of Mozart piano concertos with Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Vienna Philharmonic. Who else but Lang Lang?

The Chinese-born pianist, who will perform works by Bach, Tchaikovsky and Chopin, is a sensation unlike any in the history of classical music, and he has a long and rich relationship with NJPAC. He first played in Prudential Hall as a promising young virtuoso, and he has returned many times for our audiences. Today he is one of the world’s most acclaimed pianists and best-selling classical artists, with an irresistible desire and determination to welcome everyone, everywhere to the embrace of classical music. A serious artist of the first order. An exuberant citizen of the entire world.

Lang Lang performs frequently with others, and most audiences in the U.S. do not know him as a solo recitalist. His program at NJPAC promises to be a musical encounter not to be forgotten. His command of this most refined and elevated repertoire is complete – and, typically, infused with distinctive personality. In Europe, his recitals have the atmosphere of rock concerts. So exciting are they that DVDs have been released of his recitals in Vienna’s Musikvereinsaal, London’s Royal Albert Hall and, earlier, Carnegie Hall in New York.

New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), located on One Center Street in downtown Newark, New Jersey, is among the largest performing arts centers in the United States and is the artistic, cultural, educational and civic center of New Jersey -- where great performances and events enhance and transform lives every day. As New Jersey’s Town Square, NJPAC brings diverse communities together, providing access to all and showcasing the State’s and the world’s best artists while acting as a leading catalyst in the revitalization of its home city. Through its extensive Arts Education programs, NJPAC is shaping the next generation of artists and arts enthusiasts. NJPAC has attracted over nine million visitors (including more than one million children) since opening its doors in 1997, and nurtures meaningful and lasting relationships with each of its constituents.
