NJPAC Presents Christian McBride with Pat Metheny: One on One

(NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents a must-see event for music fans! Twenty-time Grammy winner Pat Metheny (“Last Train Home”) appears in concert and conversation with Grammy-winning bassist Christian McBride. Thursday, September 17, 2015 7:30 PM at Victoria Theater. Admission is $56.

This has been a remarkable time for Pat Metheny. After receiving his 20th Grammy for Unity Band and releasing the critically acclaimed Tap: John Zorn’s Book of Angels, Vol. 20, he was voted into DownBeat magazine’s Hall of Fame, making him the youngest member and fourth jazz guitarist to be chosen. With the release of KIN (←→), Metheny re-invented himself in an ever-evolving career.

Bassist, composer and educator Christian McBride has performed with Sonny Rollins, McCoy Tyner and Milt Jackson, among many others. In the worlds of R&B, pop-rock, classical music and hip-hop, he also arranged or worked with James Brown, Sting, Carly Simon, Queen Latifah, Kathleen Battle and the Shanghai Quartet. McBride is the composer of The Movement, Revisited suite dedicated to civil rights leaders. His newest release, with the group Inside Straight, is People Music.
