(NEWTON, NJ) -- The Newton Theatre will be showing the new Ben Stiller movie Brad’s Status on Monday and Tuesday, October 16th and 17th at 7:00pm each evening. Brad’s Status is a bittersweet comedy, from writer and director Mike White, about Brad Sloan (Ben Stiller) as he reassesses his life choices. Tickets are $7.00 each and are on sale now.
A trip to Boston with his college bound son triggers this crisis of confidence. Brad has a satisfying career and a comfortable life in suburban Sacramento where he lives with his sweet-natured wife, Melanie (Jenna Fischer), and their musical prodigy son Troy (Austin Abrams), but it's not quite what he imagined during his glory days in college. Showing Troy around Boston, where Brad went to university, Sloan can’t help comparing his life with those of his four best college friends: a Hollywood big shot (White), a hedge-fund founder (Luke Wilson), a tech entrepreneur (Jemaine Clement), and a political pundit and bestselling author (Michael Sheen). As he imagines their wealthy, glamorous lives, he wonders if cozy middle-class domesticity is the best he will ever achieve. When circumstances force Brad to reconnect with his friends, he soon begins to question whether he has failed, or if in some essential ways, he is the most successful of them all.
