(OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- The countdown to summer starts now with the The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association’s announcement of its 148th summer season of Saturday Night Entertainment featuring legendary artists including Neil Sedaka and The Beach Boys!
Spotlighting pop, rock, and gospel headliners in addition to band, orchestral, and choral concerts, the music and the fun begins on Memorial Day Weekend and goes all summer long at The Great Auditorium, a designated National Historical Landmark located at the Jersey Shore in beautiful Ocean Grove, NJ!
According to the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, this summer’s line-up of great entertainment includes the following Saturday dates, times, and concerts:
Saturday, May 27–8 PM — Atlantic Wind Ensemble -- Free Will Offering - Kicking off the Great Auditorium’s 148th season, the Atlantic Wind Ensemble will perform a rousing program of patriotic tunes, American pop classics, and a special salute to our Armed Forces. Donations accepted to benefit the Great Auditorium.
Saturday, July 1–8 PM -- Ocean Grove Summer Band -- FREE - Strike Up The Band! Ocean Grove’s annual Independence Day concert by the multi-generational Ocean Grove Summer Band features marches, show tunes, and patriotic fare, with a spectacular finale that makes audiences cheer. There’s no other celebration like this on the Jersey Shore!
Saturday, July 8–7 PM — Taylor Mason -- $15 (Groups of 4+, $10) - Comedian/vocalist/ventriloquist Taylor Mason’s career began when he won Star Search, and has grown ever since. Performing 200–300 concert dates every year across the United States and internationally, his humor transcends demographics and niches and appeals to all ages.
Saturday, July 15–8 PM — The Gaither Vocal Band -- Tickets: $69.50/$36.50/$26.50/$25 (youth, senior and group rates available) - Named after its founder/leader Bill Gaither, this Grammy and Dove award-winning vocal group has released 29 albums, at least 19 of which have charted. Although the group started out recording contemporary Christian music in the 1980s, the band is best known for Southern Gospel due to the popularity of the Gaither “Homecoming” videos.
Saturday, July 22–8 PM — Philadelphia Boys Choir -- Tickets: $20 (Groups of 20+, $15) - Renowned for their musicianship and interpretive abilities, the Emmy-winning and Grammy-nominated Philadelphia Boys Choir has cultivated a devoted following worldwide for their highly-acclaimed performances. Established in 1968, the Choir is known as “America’s Ambassadors of Song,” having proudly represented both the City of Philadelphia and the United States on many concert tours around the globe. The Philadelphia Boys Choir alumni include Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men), Joe Bonsall (Oak Ridge Boys), opera star Justin Hopkins, and celebrity chef Dave Lieberman, to name a few.
Saturday, July 29–8 PM — Sidewalk Prophets -- Tickets: $35/$25 - Sidewalk Prophets toured with Jeremy Camp and then rode the popularity of their first release, These Simple Truths, to a Dove Award for Best New Artist. Fourteen years into their career, their work has carried their music and their collective hearts for the Lord to the upper reaches, and has earned the affection and respect of a growing legion of fans.
Saturday, August 5–7 PM — Matthew West with opening act, Cimorelli -- Tickets: $50/$35 - Four-time Grammy Award nominee Matthew West has sold 1.6 million albums and has 130 songwriting credits, including recordings by Rascal Flatts, Casting Crowns, and Amy Grant. He received a Billboard Music Award (Top Christian artist, 2014) an American Music Award (2013), a K-Love Fan Music Award (2016) and Billboard’s Hot Christian Songwriter of the Year (2016). His recent discography includes Live Forever, the Grammy-nominated Into the Light (2012), and The Story of Your Life (2010). Opening for Matthew West is the pop singing group Cimorelli, one of the top 50 music groups on YouTube. This “sister act” has just released their second album, Alive, and their first book, Lessons Learned, giving advice to teenage girls.
Saturday, August 12–8 PM — Neil Sedaka -- Tickets: $50/$45/$40 - Generations of music fans keep falling in love with this prolific singer/songwriter, who over a 50+ year career has penned such classics as Calendar Girl, Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen, Stupid Cupid, Bad Blood, Breaking Up Is Hard To Do, Love Will Keep Us Together and the iconic Where The Boys Are!
Saturday, August 19–7 PM — The Beach Boys -- Tickets: $60/$55/$45 - Back by popular demand! Led by founding vocalist Mike Love and long-time band member singer/songwriter Bruce Johnston, the Beach Boys are still as popular as ever, 55 years after they created the original “California surfers sound.” Hear this iconic group sing their timeless hits, like Surfin’ USA, Little Deuce Coupe, I Get Around, Help Me Rhonda, California Girls, Sloop John B, Wouldn’t It Be Nice, Good Vibrations and Kokomo.
Saturday, September 2–8 PM — Orchestra of St. Peter’s By The Sea, conducted by Father Alphonse -- Tickets: $30/$25 - Father Alphonse Stephenson, a summer staple at the Jersey Shore, conducts Ocean Grove’s traditional end-of-summer concert with a potpourri of patriotic anthems, Broadway show tunes, and operatic arias, plus selections from his latest CD. And keep an eye peeled for surprise guest soloists!
