Matt O’Ree Band Begins 2021 Redo Tour Promoting New Singles

originally published: 05/10/2021

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Blues rockers, Matt O’Ree and Eryn will be hitting the road starting in Tuscarawas, OH, making stops across the country including in Red River, New Mexico for the annual memorial motorcycle rally. Then the band will tour back across country and end in Cadiz, Ohio. The band is promoting three newly released singles, classic rock covers Rick Derringer’s “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo”, “Funk #49” by the James Gang, and “Izabella” from Jimi Hendrix.

O’Ree and Eryn are joined by singer Layonne Holmes, keyboardist Matt Wade, drummer John Hummel and bass guitarist Lex Lehman on the recorded tracks. The covers were a fun project to tide the band over during the shutdowns resulting from the pandemic. Between tours, they are working on tracks for their next full studio album.

The band leaders O’Ree and Eryn were labeled by NJ Stage Magazine as, “Two of the finest blues artists in NJ…a match made in Rock n’ Roll heaven!”  They have been branded as NJ’s power couple by the Asbury Park Press, as prior to their marriage, both had extraordinary individual careers.

Eryn has won awards such as the BELK Southern Musician Showcase/Blues Artist as well as Asbury Park’s Top Female Vocalist and Top Blues Band. She is also the youngest artist to be inducted into the NJ/NY Blues Hall of Fame and one of only three females who have been inducted. She has performed with or opened for artists such as Don McLean, Gregg Allman, Johnny Winter, Robert Cray, Dr. John, Shemekia Copeland, The Gin Blossoms, Little River Band, Marcia Ball, Walter Wolfman Washington, Eric Lindell, Sonny Landreth, The Radiators, Johnny A and so many more. She also sang backup vocals with the Smashing Pumpkins on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Matt O’Ree is a veteran on the blues rock scene.  Gaining national exposure in 2006, he won the Guitar Center King of the Blues Award, at Guitarmageddon, hosted by BB King and John Mayer.  O’Ree joined Bon Jovi as a guitarist on the 2015 Bon Jovi Live! Southeast Asian tour.  Then in 2016, O’Ree was inducted into the NY/NJ Blues Hall of Fame along with his wife Eryn.  Notable collaborations on Matt O’Ree Band recordings include guest vocals and guitar solo by Bruce Springsteen on single “Black Boots”, co-writing by Bon Jovi keyboardist and Tony Award winner David Bryan on smash hit "My Everything is You", as well as a guest appearance by Steve Cropper from Booker T & The MG’s on “I Don’t Dance”.
