Culled from their new LP, “Strum It Again,” Central Jersey-based Lost Romance premiere their video for the latest single, “The State I’m In,” which is the Makin Waves Song of the Week here, on ThePenguinRocks.com and its “Radio Jersey” show. VIDEO DIRECTED BY JOSHUA STODDARD
The Makin Waves Song of the Week is "The State I’m In” from "Strum It Again," the new LP of the Central Jersey-based punk-fueled power-pop trio Lost Romance. As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, “The State I’m In” can be heard at 6:45 PM on Friday and Monday on “Radio Jersey,” four other times daily at ThePenguinRocks.com, and all week with this feature. Here is the media premiere of the video for "The State I’m In," which was shot in Jersey City and the late, great Maxell’s in Hoboken under the direction of Joshua Stoddard (Fountains Of Wayne, Camera2, Heaven, Ivy), who also edited the clip:
“The single ‘The State I’m In’ was written during the darkness of Hurricane Sandy,” founding vocalist-guitarist Gerry Perlinski said. “I had power out at my place for several weeks, and I wrote it as a love letter to the State of New Jersey by candlelight. It’s about how resilient people can be during hard times, and it’s an anthem about never giving up.”
A cross between the angst-filled edge of Husker Du and the garage-crafted charm of The Smithereens, Lost Romance also include drummer Dave Harman and bassist Dan Haag. Here are streams of other tracks and videos from “Strum It Again,” as well as the 2013 EP, “The Light and the Dark”:
