The United Tastes of America supports recently settled refugee families in a unique and powerful model of community involvement through food. This benefit dinner will be prepared by our new Syrian neighbors who will use their traditional cooking skills to provide a mouthwatering banquet Syrian food. Meals like this, often shared in homes around the area, present an opportunity for refugees, who have been defined for too long as victims, to share knowledge and skills unique to them. Our events and other programming forge connections across communities and help set our new neighbors on a path of greater independence and confidence in their new lives here in in the USA.
Suzzanne Douglas will perform original and re-imaged jazz compositions with her quintet.
