Latewaves Release Video For "Facedown"

Asbury Park, NJ indie rock trio latewaves will release "Partied Out," their debut EP on September 22 via Panic State Records. The EP was produced by John Ferrara of Trophy Scars. Preorders are available online. A music video for "Face Down" featuring the Grim Reaper wandering around Asbury Park was released on September 11th.

Vocalist Mike Pelligrino talks about the Jersey Shore shot video. “The concept of the video being a grim reaper and a ghost palling around town was very fitting for our song 'Face Down.' The song kind of encompasses a period in my life that most people can relate to; feeling lost and without a sense of purpose. And the song resolves with a sense of comfort that as long as you keep your head up and not worry about other people’s opinions, you can make your own way just fine."

"The opening sequence of the reaper and the ghost kind of lonely and lost but finding each other in the end captures the whole vibe," continued Pelligrino. "The comic nature of the characters just happened naturally which I’m happy about because we really don’t wanna take ourselves too seriously in the end. We’re just people playing rock and roll. And I think people will understand the irony of a story of a grim reaper and a ghost having a happy ending.”

Consisting of Pellegrino (vocals, guitar) Howie Cohen (bass, vocals) and Shawna Grabowski (drums), latewaves formed in the fall of 2016.

Drawing off influences from the quirky minor and 7th chords of 90s alt rock, and calling the angst and aggression of the early 2000’s post hardcore/dawning of the emo scene; latewaves find their sound in the echoes of the past but bring a modern twist.
