(UNION, NJ) -- Kean University Theatre Conservatory presents An Alternate Approach: The Yellow Wall Paper, a new production directed by Karen Lee Hart, Charles DelRisco, and Michele Mossay. Teams of performers, designers, and directors will turn the typical production process upside-down and inside-out as they approach the popular American short story - The Yellow Wall-Paper by Charlotte Perkins Stetson Gilman. Each approach brings unique points of view to the story in one night of unforgettable exploration, emotion, location and perspective.
The Yellow Wall-Paper, while generally considered a feminist classic, speaks to all creative minds and lost souls. The original story is a first-person narrative of a young wife, mother and artist's struggle as she is subjected to a three-month "rest cure" to treat her depression. But why stop there? What's behind the wall-paper?
The play opens on Friday, March 31 at 8 p.m. Additional performances take place Saturday, April 1 at 8:00pm; Sunday, April 2 at 2:00pm; Thursday, April 6 at 8:00pm; Friday, April 7 at 8:00pm; and Saturday, April 8 at 2:00pm. Performances will begin in the Murphy-Dunn Theatre, then the audience will be asked to move from space to space.
The theatre is located on the Kean University campus at 1000 Morris Avenue in Union, NJ. For more information visit www.keanstage.com.
