Hoboken Comedy Festival 2015

originally published: 09/19/2015

(HOBOKEN, NJ) -- For the 6th year in a row the Hoboken Comedy Festival takes over the city with hilarious headliners, fantastic features, hysterical hosts and uproarious up and comers. From Sept 28th through October 4th, one can see the likes of Artie Lange from the Howard Stern Show, Robert Kelly from HBO's Tourgasm, Charlamagne tha God from Power 105's The Breakfast Club and MTV's Guy Code, Andrew Schulz from the new IFC show Benders, Yannis Pappas know from his character work as Maurica and Mr Panos, Derek Gaines from MTV's Broke A$$ Game Show, Moody McCarthy from Letterman, Wil Sylvince from Comedy Central, Krystyna Hutchinson and Corinne Fisher from Guys We F*****d Podcast, and many more.

"This year's Festival features 80 Comedians in 7 days," says Festival Creator and Comedian Dan Frigolette, "and we will support two local charities."

The 2014 Hoboken Comedy Festival raised over $3500 for the Liberty Humane Society thereby doubling their $1250 in donations from 2013. The Hoboken Comedy Festival offers a myriad of ways to donate during the fest. For starters, $1 per ticket will be donated to LHS at all 11 performances during the festival, on top of that, the Sunday Matinee performance will donate 100% of ticket money to the charity. To maximize donations, patrons will have the opportunity to give via tip buckets at each show, or directly when buying tickets via the Hoboken Comedy Festival website.

The Liberty Humane Society is a Jersey City based animal shelter that fosters a community of compassion and respect, and provides animals in need with a chance at a lifelong, loving home. The organization specializes in low-cost veterinary clinics, providing vaccines, flea and tick control, and microchipping; as well as affordable adoption services that stretch throughout the entirety of Hudson County.

In 2015 the Hoboken Comedy Festival will also support the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps, through beverage sales all throughout the entire festival. The Hoboken Comedy Festival will hold a beer garden event on Sunday October 4th from Noon to 10pm, and serve indoor refreshments throughout the rest of the Festival. Hoboken EMS is a 100% volunteer organization providing Ambulance and EMS services to three major hospitals throughout Hudson County. Hoboken EMS has been serving Hoboken since 1971.

The festival will also support young up and coming comedians who have submitted to participate in the festival. Each year comedians send in audition tapes looking to win performance opportunities and to open for the big names on each night. Monday through Thursday will feature five "New Talent" performers who can win their respective night by impressing a panel of industry judges, comprised of talent bookers from all over the New York City area. This year's judges represent comedy clubs, talent agencies, road work, and commercial booking opportunities. One winner from each week night will be asked to come back and perform on the early and late shows on Friday and Saturday. The most successful new talent comedian of the weekend will then open for Artie Lange on Sunday October 4th and be the overall winner of the 2015 Hoboken Comedy Festival.  Previous winners have gone on to the Montreal Comedy Festival, have been seen on Fox's Laughs, America's Got Talent, Last Comic Standing, and have opened for Dave Attell, Michael Che, and Jerry Seinfeld.

The Hoboken Comedy Festival will take place over seven days from September 28th through October 4th at the Bow Tie Cinemas on 14th Street in Hoboken. The goal of the festival is to Celebrate Hoboken's Entertainment Independence, and prove once and for all that great comedy can be seen in Hoboken NJ.  This one week of comedy will match and outdo any comedy lineup in Manhattan. Eighty comedians can be seen over seven days and each comedian will only perform once throughout the festival, making each show a once in a lifetime performance. On any given night, one will see four comedians strutting their silly and witness 90 minutes of comedic material from industry professionals and perhaps one or two new faces.

Starting Monday and continuing with one show per night and multiple shows on the weekend through Sunday October 4th with a special matinee dog friendly outdoor performance at Aqueduct Park on 14th between Adams and Grand. The 6th Annual Hoboken Comedy Festival will close with a ground breaking performance from Hoboken's own Artie Lange.
