Hey Bulldog Takes the Stage at Oak Ridge Park July 29

(Union County, NJ) -- The Union County free Summer Arts Festival concert series continues on Wednesday evening, July 29, with Hey Bulldog at Oak Ridge Park in Clark. Family friendly pre-concert activities begin at 6:30 and the band hits the stage at 7:30.

“Come and enjoy a cool evening under the stars in the wide open spaces of Oak Ridge Park, yoga with the experts, and great music, all with no charge,” Freeholder Chairman Mohamed S. Jalloh, “And be sure to join us at Echo Lake Park next month, where Summer Arts will keep going through August.”

Summer Arts is a long running initiative of the Union County Freeholder Board, with the help of community sponsors. The Union County Education Association is the sponsor for the Hey Bulldog show.

Hey Bulldog is a diverse group of musicians from the New Brunswick area who got together in 2004 as part of an open "jam" to play Beatles songs on October 9, John Lennon's birthday.  That evening inspired yet another “Beatles night,” then another, and soon the informal jams became a steadily gigging act.

Pack a picnic basket, bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy the music under the stars. Refreshments and snacks are also available from vendors.

The July 29 pre-concert activities feature UC Get Fit Yoga in the Park, a Union County Freeholder initiative. Alluem Yoga of Cranford will present a free community yoga class from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.  Bring a mat or beach towel and participate in healthy activities for the entire family before the music begins.

The community yoga class is sponsored by Whole Foods Market of Clark, which will be on site with healthy drinks and snacks for the participants.

Starting in August, the Summer Arts Festival free outdoor concert series moves from Oak Ridge Park to Echo Lake Park in Mountainside. Concerts at Echo Lake take place in the field opposite the gazebo and water wheel, near the east end.  For a map of Echo Lake Park visit ucnj.org.

The Echo Lake Park shows are all sponsored by ConnectOne Bank. The shows are:

·         August 5 – Good Vibrations (tribute to The Beach Boys)

·         August 12 – American Rapture

·         August 19 – The Benjamins
