(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The first concert in the Asbury Park Music Foundation Music Mondays at Springwood Park series features Gary U.S. Bonds on Monday, June 26th at 6:00pm. The free concert also includes Laura Crisci and PK Lavengood.
Known for hits like "New Orleans," "Quarter to Three" and "This Little Girl is Mine," Bonds has been a favorite of Jersey audiences and performers for decades. His 2004 album featured guest appearances from Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny, Dickey Betts, and Phoebe Snow.
Coming along at a time when pop was at a lull, “New Orleans” and “Quarter to Three” energized the music with a jolt it needed and Bonds’ party sound would prove revolutionary for music fans like Springsteen, for whom it would serve as a bridge between early rock ’n’ roll and the British Invasion. Thanks in part to the momentum generated by those two tracks, Bonds would go on to collect a slew of top 40 hits, including, "School Is Out," "School Is In” and “Dear Lady Twist.”
Upcoming concerts in the series include Quincy Mumford & the Reason Why on July 3rd; D.P. Jazz Band on July 10th; and Billy Hector on July 17th.
Springwood Park is located on Springwood AVenue between Atkins & Union in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Free parking is available across Springwood Avenue. Check AsburyParkMusicLives.org for rain location or rescheduling.
