(SOMERS POINT, NJ) -- Fool Moon Theatre presents Sylvia on selected dates from June 1-10 at the Gateway Playhouse in Somers Point. Written by award-winning playwright A.R. Gurney, the play tells the hilarious and touching story of a love triangle—a man, his wife, and a dog. It was called, “Howlingly Funny,” by the New York Post.
Sylvia stars Pamela Dollak, editor of Atlantic City Press’ At The Shore and Atlantic City Weekly, as Sylvia, a part played originally by Sarah Jessica Parker. Ms. Dollak was recently seen in Fool Moon’s Love, Loss and What I Wore. Other Fool Moon veteran performers include Kate Read, most recently seen in Love, Loss and Our Town and Grey Le Cuyer, also seen in Our Town. Alissa Dirato, new to the Fool Moon group, plays Kate, the exasperated wife. The production is directed by Paul Herron and produced by Patricia Herron.
Fool Moon Theatre is sharing proceeds with two local nonprofit charities that train and care for animals. There will be a June 1 opening night benefit for People and Puppies at Work for Sight (PPAWS), a nonprofit organization raising and training puppies for the Seeing Eye Puppy Project. One June 9, there will be a benefit for Beacon Animal Rescue, a nonprofit whose mission is to rescue, shelter, and find loving home for cats and dogs.”
“We believe the Arts create a powerful foundation for building strong communities. We are excited to work with these extraordinary nonprofit organizations to help raise awareness and financial support for their missions,” said Paul Herron, co-founder of Fool Moon, and the show’s director.
Performances will take place on June 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10 at the Gateway Playhouse, 738 Bay Ave in Somers Point, NJ. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 7:30pm, and Sunday matinees will be at 2:00pm.
