Few artists in history have been as influential in rock and roll and folk music as Bob Dylan. From the release of his debut album in 1962, Dylan became a major part of the Greenwich Village scene. Over the course of his career, he earned multiple Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award. He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Minnesota Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He was awarded a special citation by the Pulitzer Prize committee in 2008 for "his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power" and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012. His most recent honor was being awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016.
