Asbury Park Music Foundation Creates Campaign For New Location In 2016

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The Asbury Park Music Foundation (APMF) is rebranding and relocating. The Foundation will be launching their new marketing campaign including a redesigned website – www.asburyparkmusiclives.org - and a crowd source funding campaign – www.gofundme.com/SupportAPMF - to raise money to fund their move to the new Lakehouse Building on Lake Avenue next April. The Board of Directors are asking for the support of the community to help meet their goal.

The Asbury Park Musical Heritage Foundation was founded in 2011 in response to the overwhelming success of the Smithsonian Institution’s traveling exhibit, “New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music.” The mission of the Foundation is to preserve, exhibit and promote the city’s rich musical heritage – past, present and future – and to contribute to the city’s revitalization by securing Asbury Park as a musical destination. In 2012, they opened Where Music Lives, headquarters and exhibit/performance space located on the infamous Cookman Avenue. Now the Foundation will be moving into the center of the music community on Lake Avenue, the new Lakehouse Music Academy Building.

Executive Director of the Asbury Park Music Foundation, Matt Hockenjos, said, “The APMF is thrilled to be a part of the music community. We look forward to collaborating with all of the artists and businesses in our backyard, and moving the Foundation into a new realm of success.”

The new Lakehouse Building is currently being renovated, and the move is expected to take place in early April of 2016. This is just in time for the second annual Asbury Park Music in Film Festival, scheduled to take place on April 8th through 10th. The festival was created and operated by the APMF in 2015, and was an overwhelming success in its inaugural year.

The budget for renovating the space is estimated at $85,000. Aside from building renovations, the crowd funding campaign has also been proposed to support funding for the Foundation’s marketing campaign to support their rebrand as well as supplies and operating expenses leading up to the big move.
