(OCEANPORT, NJ) -- Andrew McMahon has announced two more drive-in concerts, this time on the East Coast, at New Jersey’s Monmouth Park in Oceanport on August 24-25. The shows will continue the 15th Anniversary of the Jack’s Mannequin album Everything in Transit, which he will play from start to finish plus other popular songs from Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness and Something Corporate.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 7th and can be purchased online. A maximum of four (4) occupants will be permitted per vehicle.
McMahon recently released his new song “Get On My Wave.” The song, produced by King Tuff, was performed live for the first time at McMahon’s sold-out drive-in shows in Orange County, CA.
In July, McMahon kicked off the anniversary celebration by playing three sold-out drive-in concerts (July 10-12) in Anaheim, California presented by Nederlander Concerts. Due to overwhelming demand for the shows, a live stream was made available for Saturday night’s concert and was watched by over 4,000 fans. You can still watch the performance on-demand with a portion of the proceeds of all streams going to the foundation. The concerts have already raised over $20,000 on behalf of McMahon’s Dear Jack Foundation.
Raised on the East Coast and in the Midwest, McMahon began writing songs at age nine, drawing inspiration from singer/songwriter/pianists such as Elton John and Billy Joel. While still in high school, McMahon co-founded an early incarnation of pop-punk band Something Corporate, whose 2002 major-label debut hit No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart. In 2004, he formed Jack's Mannequin and then on the cusp of releasing the band's 2005 debut was diagnosed with leukemia at age 22. Eventually fully recovered, McMahon went on to release two more studio albums with Jack's Mannequin and established The Dear Jack Foundation one of the first Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) specific cancer foundations which advocates for and supports initiatives that benefit AYAs diagnosed with cancer. In addition, McMahon composed songs for the NBC series Smash which earned him an Emmy Award nomination. In 2014, he released Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness which featured the gold certified single "Cecilia and the Satellite". He has performed on the Today Show, Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live and more. McMahon lives in Los Angeles with his wife of 12 years Kelly and their daughter Cecilia, for whom the hit song was penned.
