originally published: 05/03/2017

“A Man of No Importance” Opens at the Barn Theatre(MONTVILLE, NJ) -- Alfie Byrne is a bus driver in 1964 Dublin, whose heart holds secrets he can't share with anyone but his imagined confidante, Oscar Wilde. When he attempts to put on an amateur production of Wilde's Salome in the local church hall, he confronts the forces of bigotry and shame over a love "that dare not speak its name." But the redemptive power of theater changes his life and brings his friends back to his side. See what happens when The Barn Theatre of Montville, New Jersey presents A Man of No Importance.

A Man Of No Importance is the second successful collaboration by the team of Terrence McNally, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, all of whom won Tony Awards for Ragtime.

The cast includes Geraldine Baillod as Mrs Curtin, Bridget Burke Weiss as Lily Byrne, Mark Dacey as Lally, Joe Elefante as Alfi, Hank Gundersen as Father Kenny, Rich Maloy as Carney, Dave McDonald as Rasher Flynn, Claire McDonald as Mrs Crow, Greg Moran as Baldy, Allison Ognibene as Kitty, Cyndi Owgang as Mrs Patrick, Tim Sevener as Peter/Carson, Dale Smith-Gallo as Breton Beret.
