"Half Time" - A New Musical About Not Acting Your Age

Dori Berinstein knew she wanted to tell a story about celebrating life, grabbing opportunities and living life to its fullest. She found that story in Newark, New Jersey.


Broadway’s Mandy Gonzalez LIVE! at HACPAC

It’s a gorgeous Saturday June 2, 2018 evening in Hackensack, NJ. As we explore the downtown neighborhood, we pass a sprinkling of appealing eateries — Mexican, Argentinian, Greek, Colombian, — and even stop at the crowded Cuban restaurant on Main Street which features an inviting open air front window and an exposed brick interior.


The Arts Council of Princeton and Chimera Productions present The Other Place

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Chimera Productions presents its 13th production, The Other Place by Sharr White, in Princeton, New Jersey on July 19, 20 and 21, 2018, in conjunction with The Arts Council of Princeton. The play, presented in the intimate 60-seat theater inside Princeton’s Paul Robeson Center for the Arts, is a fast-paced, witty, powerhouse of a drama about a scientist on the brink of a revolutionary discover, who’s also contemplating divorce and trying to revive her relationship with her estranged daughter.


Tri-State Actors Theater Presents A Reading of "To Trample The Dragon"

(DOVER, NJ) -- Tri-State Actors Theater will present two readings of To Trample The Dragon, a new work by by Peter Mitsopoulos. The readings will take place June 28-29 at 8:00pm in the Dover Little Theatre.  This is a play that touches the loss we have all known, and the love that helps us survive.  Admission is by donation.

Westminster Choir College Holds Summer Choral Reading Session In Bristol Chapel

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Westminster Choir College of Rider University will host a summer choral reading session on Tuesday, June 19 at 7:30pm in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster campus in Princeton.  Westminster alumnus Anthony Maglione will lead a reading of Ralph Vaughan William’s Dona Nobis Pacem. Participants can bring their own scores or borrow one from Westminster. Admission is free.


New Jersey Symphony Orchestra performs free summer concert at Ocean County College

(NEWARK, NJ) -- The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra performs a free outdoor concert of Broadway songs, opera overtures and more at Ocean County College in Toms River on Tuesday, June 26 at 8:00pm. This event is sponsored by JCP&L/FirstEnergy Foundation and PNC Bank and presented in partnership with Ocean County College.


Inside Count Basie’s New Home at Rutgers University-Newark

(NEWARK, NJ) -- The Institute of Jazz Studies (IJS) at Rutgers University-Newark is now home to the collection of nearly 1,000 artifacts that belonged to late jazz icon William J. “Count” Basie Jr. The Count Basie Collection includes his pianos, Hammond organ, photos, correspondence, concert programs, business records, housewares and press clippings. Scholars, curators, writers, students, filmmakers, and music aficionados also will find clothes, accessories, scrapbooks, and audiovisual material from Basie as the collection comes “home” to reside in the Red Bank, New Jersey native’s home territory. Items including a Grammy, Downbeat award, and one of Basie’s signature ship captain’s hats were on display at the official announcement of the acquisition on June 13, 2018 at 15 Washington Street in the Great Hall. 


Bishop Gunn To Open For Lynyrd Skynyrd At PNC Bank Arts Center

(HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Emerging rock band Bishop Gunn are adding new tour dates throughout the summer, including select shows with Lynyrd Skynyrd, as well as various festival plays and the Outlaw Music Festival Tour supporting Willie Nelson & Family, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, The Head and The Heart and Old Crow Medicine Show.  They will open for Lynyrd Skynyrd at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel on Friday, June 22nd.

State Theatre New Jersey Announces 2018 Free Summer Movies Series

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey has announced the return of the Free Summer Movies Series. Movies featured in this year’s series include 1776 on July 3, Coco on July 10, Despicable Me 3 on July 17, The Lion King on July 24, The Great Muppet Caper on July 31, and Wonder on August 7. Showings for Coco, Despicable Me 3, The Lion King, The Great Muppet Caper, and Wonder will be at 10:30am and 7:00pm. The movie 1776 will have a single showing at 7:00pm. Tickets are free.

The Brodsky Center for Printmaking and Papermaking Moves to New Home at PAFA

(PHILADELPHIA, NJ) -- The Brodsky Center, a collaborative paper and printmaking center devoted to the creation of new work, is coming to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA). PAFA has announced plans to absorb the Center from its current location at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
