(SPRING LAKE, NJ) -- The 8th Annual Tri-State Theatre Festival takes place October 19-21 at Wesley Hall in Spring Lake. The festival showcases the best new short plays written by local writers from New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. The festival typically receives about 300 entries annually and features a unique collection of short comedies and dramas designed to entertain and engage audiences. And, after every performance, attendees have the option to stick around and “meet the artists” – a live Q&A with playwrights, actors and directors.
The Festival, hosted by Rob Sullivan, is a great opportunity to see what material fresh minds generate in the form of written word. This event serves as an artistic fundraiser, with all proceeds going to South Street Players to help maintain its commitment to producing high-quality, extremely engaging theatrical experiences for our audiences.
The festival includes original short plays by Eric Alter, Karen Anderson, Alex Dremann, C.J. Ehrlich, Tony Manzo, Carol Mullen, Robert Scott Sullivan, and Loretta Bolger.
Plays feature Derek Alberti, Karen Anderson, Jacob Brody, Annette Curran, Roger Freitas, Dawn Gaylardo, Samantha Gertner, Myles Linzey, Jill Mesonas, Frank Nebenburgh, Joey Orlando, Jessie Rarig, Gina Scherzo, Gina Shuster, Robert Scott Sullivan, and James Walsh.
Productions will be directed by Karen Anderson, Annette Curran, Dave McGrath, Gina Shuster, Robert Scott Sullivan, and Jim Walsh.
Performances take place on Friday, October 19th at 8:00pm; Saturday, October 20th at 8:00pm, and Sunday, October 21st at 2:00pm. All performances are in Wesley Hall, located at 4th and Mercer (behind St. Andrews United Methodist Church) in Spring Lake, NJ.
The South Street Players is a non-profit organization in existence since 1982. We incorporated in 1997 as a 501(c)3 organization. Our primary source of income is ticket sales from the company's yearly stage productions, nominal income from various fundraising ventures, selling space in the Playbill for advertising, and through the generosity of our donors. Expenses consist of those costs normally associated with the staging of plays - licensing fees, set construction, lighting and equipment, advertising, etc. We minimize expenses by drawing on the talents of our Executive Board, Players Members, and numerous volunteers for most play production costs. All donations to The South Street Players will be greatly appreciated and may be tax deductible.
