Garden State Film Festival Presents "Greetings From The Shore"

(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- The 2007 feature Greetings from the Shore makes a return engagement after first screening at GSFF in 2008, when it was named “Pick of the Flick” by audience voters.  It will be presented at 7:00 p.m. on March 19, 2015, in connection with a benefit for the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City at the Claridge Hotel Showroom on the third floor.   The film is being honored with the festival’s “Best of the Shore Encore” in recognition of its popularity and appreciation for the filmmakers’ support for the event.  Tickets are $12.00, with donations accepted to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City.

Written, produced, directed and acted by mostly New Jersey natives, Greetings from the Shore stars Paul Sorvino as a wise and kindly line cook – with a past - who takes a young waitress, played by Kim Shaw, under his wing at a swank yacht club.  The romantic and intriguing plot is enhanced by a strong supporting cast and Lavallette locations later ravaged by Hurricane Sandy.  Critic David Hiltbrand wrote, "It's the Jersey girl version of The Flamingo Kid. And the water down on Barnegat Inlet looks oddly idyllic on film.”  Director Greg Chwerchak and writer/producer, Gabrielle Berberich, will be available to answer audience questions after the screening.  “For many people, our film is so nostalgic that we are often thanked for capturing the beauty of the area before it was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy,” says Mr. Chwerchak.

The Garden State Film Festival’s official opening is Friday, March 2o with film screenings, parties, panel discussions, book signings, Q & A sessions, educational programs, an open casting call, and a black-tie awards ceremony are offered to festival attendees.  Weekend passes are $45 and provide access to all screenings and sessions. All events are open to the public. Tickets can be purchased at www.gsff.org where information on films and the festival is also provided.

It is rare for a film to capture a major social issue and equally rare for a film to burrow its way into audiences’ hearts. What We Dreamed of When does both and on a budget that wouldn’t even cover lunch on a Hollywood film set.
