Musicians in New Jersey and Texas will entertain a worldwide audience eager to help with tornado relief for communities in the U.S. South and Midwest regions on Saturday, December 18, starting at 6:30pm Eastern-US time with a performance by Martyn Lucas, followed by Jason Didner an hour later. The performances will be livestreamed at Live Streamer Cafe. The show is free to attend, but donations to World Central Kitchen are appreciated.
Dallas area-based singer Martyn Lucas will display his impressive voice, piano playing and production value for the cause starting at 6:30pm Eastern. Martyn had the lead role in Phantom of the Opera in a West End production of the famed musical. His original songs join a repertoire of Billy Joel, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Adele.
Northern New Jersey's Jason Didner will then take the virtual stage at 7:30pm Eastern, featuring what he calls his original "rock songs to heal the mind." Jason's songbook centers on the Jersey rock he loves, with hits by Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi and Looking Glass.
Both artists gladly perform requests; the Live Streamer Cafe platform enables audience members to browse the artists' songbooks and request their favorites. The concert is free to attend; there will be a donate button above the concert's chat area for secure, convenient donations to World Central Kitchen. Note: new users will need to sign up for their free account at Live Streamer Cafe about 5-10 minutes before show time in order to participate in chat, games and song requests in the concert environment.
World Central Kitchen uses the power of food to nourish communities and strengthen economies in times of crisis and beyond. WCK has created a new model for disaster response through its work helping devastated communities recover and establish resilient food systems. Currently, WCK is supporting communities in Kentucky, Illinois, and surrounding areas that were affected by the tornadoes.
