Run for the Arts 5K "Honor Run" to take place September 18th

(OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- The Jersey Shore Arts Center (JSAC) Run for the Arts 5K - Honor Run - will take place on Saturday, September 18 at 8:00am in Ocean Grove.  In honor of this year's 20th anniversary of the Twin Towers attack and the heroic dedication of our first responders and medical workers, the race is including an additional Honor Ribbon fund drive for the Ocean Grove Fire Department and First Aid Squads, as well as the Neptune PBA. The funds from the purchase of the Honor Ribbons will go to these organizations. Their goal is to raise $3000, which will be split among the 3 first responder organizations. This year's funds from the 5K event will go towards JSAC programs and sponsored events, and historic preservation of the Old Neptune High School. 

Registration is available online for $30 per person until July 29. Late registration is available from July 30 to August 30th for $35 per person.  There is no in-person registration on the day of the race.  People who do not pick up their packet by Friday, September 17th at 7:00pm will have to check in on Saturday, September 18th by 7:30am or they will not be able to participate.

In-person packet pickup (September 14-17) will be outdoors in the North Lot and will take place over 4 days.  No shows will not receive a refund, but will receive a donation letter for tax purposes.  Participants must present photo ID at pick up.  Runner's packets will include Run Bib/JSAC Event 2021 Run shirt/JSAC events program - future programs and events/Packaged snacks/Sponsor materials and promotional items.

There will be awards for top three male and female finishers plus top Ocean Grove resident male and female.

Volunteers are sought for the race including course Biker Riders (bike number one will ride in front of the lead runner through course and bike #2 will ride throughout the course to assist runners and inform race director of any on-course issues. Other bike riders will ride through the course to report on any issues and help coordinate course director with on-course issues), course Leaders (guide runners on course and inform the race director or course director of any issues on the course. Must be vaccinated. Will supply runners with bottled water as needed and must pick up litter left by runners), packet distribution (from September 14-17; must be vaccinated), packet setup (create runner packets that will include run tag, run shirt, JSAC program and event information, sponsor information, donation envelope for future donation, brochure about the JSAC organization and volunteer sign-up for future events), setup/breakdown crew (set up and break down tables, tents, water bottle distribution on the race course, soundboard and mic, speakers and other race related items according to the established event layout; If short handed, help with road sign collection after the race completes; and close and re-open North Parking area); water/food crew (set up bottled water area at finish line on Lawrence Ave. - needs to be able to lift up to 20 lbs. and fully vaccinated; stack bottled waters along the building; pass out packaged granola bars if requested; pass out disposable masks / pick up discarded masks at finish area; clean up empty discarded bottles; and alert staff or emergency workers of any issues or emergencies), building monitor / bathroom attendant (monitor the downstairs area ensuring activity is restricted to main lobby only and that activity is with keeping with the proper conduct and manner for the building; and keep the bathroom clean and sanitize/keep paper and soap stocked); honor ribbon production (create/produce the honor ribbons for the event. 300 ribbons are needed by September 7th), and road sign setup / breakdown (set up directional arrows on race course to help direct runners on race course).
