Two River Players Presents Series Of Community Readings Online

(RED BANK, NJ) -- The Two River Players ring in the new year with a new series of community readings, featuring Two River Theater staff members, plus a few surprise guests. This series travels from Russia at the turn of the 20th century, to Manila, South Carolina, and a fantastical New York City of the future. Join the Two River Players on this journey through classic, award-winning, and thought-provoking plays. These free play explorations will be conducted live over Zoom, each play over two nights, and each part will be followed by a Q&A with the players, moderated by Artistic Director John Dias.


Deadline Approaches For 19th Annual Young Playwrights Competition; Last Year's Winning Plays To Be Rebroadcast January 14

The Theater Project is once again reaching out to creative young people in its 19th annual Young Playwrights Competition. Winners receive cash prizes and see their work performed by professional actors at the Zoom awards ceremony in the spring. To inspire this year’s entrants, The Theater Project will rebroadcast last year’s four winning plays at 7:30pm, Thursday, January 14. This event is made possible in part by a grant from the Investors Savings Bank Foundation.


Two River Theater Announces "Winter Education Series" Exploring Playwriting, Musical Theater History, Spectrum Theater Education, Acting, and The Work Of Black, Female Playwrights

(RED BANK, NJ) -- Kick off the new year with the resolution to engage in new theater education programs through Two River Theater’s Winter Education Series starting January 12. The series is open to all those wishing to explore playwriting, musical theater history, spectrum theater education, acting, and the work of Black, female playwrights.

Babie Releases Music Video For "I'm Ready, Are You"

New Jersey based singer-songwriter Julia Affinito (who performs under the name Babie) has released a music video for her single "I'm Ready, Are you". It's the first song on her debut album Treesap, which was released in October 2020. The album is a compilation of songs that she wrote in high school during a time where she was getting severely bullied, her songwriting quickly becoming a strong coping mechanism to get her through.


10th Annual Big Man's Bash To Take Place Virtually On January 9

The 10th Annual Big Man's Bash will take place on Saturday, January 9 starting at 2:30pm.  The event will take place virtually this year due to the pandemic with performances seen on the Facebook Page for Big Man's Management.  It will be a night of music, memories and fun all to remember "The Big Man" himself. Admission is free, but 100% of all donations made online will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County.


Soraia Releases "Tight-Lipped"

Philadelphia rock quartet Soraia is giving fans new music for the start of the New Year. The band released a 7" single titled "Tight-Lipped" (with a b-side cover of Aerosmith's "Angel," ft. a guest appearance by their Wicked Cool Records labelmate Jessie Wagner) on January 8th.

The Cranford Theater Joins the Garden State Film Festival

The Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) returns with their 19th edition in 2021 with two new surprises: adding a new sixth day and welcoming their newest screening location, the Cranford Theater.  The festival will entail independent films from around the globe, plus announcing the winners of the screenplay and movie music competitions, the Rising Star award winner, as well as parties and panel discussions.

Studio Montclair Presents "Privilege, Power, and Everyday Life"

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Studio Montclair presents “Privilege, Power, and Everyday Life,” on exhibit from January 15 through February 19 at Studio Montclair Gallery, 127 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair, NJ. For those not yet comfortable with public viewing, an online tour of the exhibit, including audio, will be available for viewing. “Privilege, Power, and Everyday Life” features artwork that encourages dialogue about implicit bias and stereotypes.


Montclair Art Museum Presents "Fragile Freedoms: Maggie Meiners Revisits Rockwell"

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Fragile Freedoms: Maggie Meiners Revisits Rockwell, a new thought-provoking photography exhibition at Montclair Art Museum (MAM), reimagines the iconic work of early to mid-century painter and illustrator Norman Rockwell through the lens of modern America. With stunningly vivid detail, Meiners’s carefully constructed photographs turn nostalgia on its head and rework Rockwell’s familiar imagery to address contemporary issues including racism, sexuality, gender roles, and the impact of technology. The exhibit runs from February 7 through June 13, 2021.

The 7th Annual Rogue Theater Festival to Present 37 New Productions

(NEW YORK, NY) -- Rogue Theatre Festival (RTF) returns with a bold and eclectic lineup for their 7th annual celebration of new works. This year, the festival will showcase 37 original plays and musicals, including fully staged productions, short plays, staged readings, and digital streaming performances. The Flea Theatre in Tribeca hosts this year's festival with performances running August 4-10, 2025 running in association with Abingdon Theatre Company. Staged Readings will be performed in The Pete theatre, series of Shorts and Fully Staged productions will take place in The Siggy at The Flea.
