Mile Square Theatre – 2020 7th Inning Stretch

Every year, the Mile Square Theatre (MST) holds the 7th Inning Stretch. The fund raising event is named to honor the first official baseball game played in Hoboken back in 1840’s. The event has become a Hoboken tradition and is in its 17th year.


Paper Mill Playhouse To Continue Online Classes Throughout The Summer

(MILLBURN, NJ) -- In response to the Coronavirus National Emergency and statewide and global shutdowns, Paper Mill Playhouse has announced the continuation  of online classes this summer from our Theater School.  Classes designed for students ages 7 to 17 will be delivered weekly starting July 13th and will feature the same instructors and lessons utilized in our in-person classes. 


The Growing Stage Presents JUNGALBOOK Production Streaming on YouTube Live

(NETCONG, NJ) -- The Growing Stage, The Children's Theatre of New Jersey presents their next Studio Series of the 38th season, JUNGALBOOK virtually streaming on YouTube Live on Friday, July 17 at 7:30pm and Saturday, July 18 at 4:00pm. Written by Edward Mast, JUNGALBOOK is a thrilling and fun-filled adaptation based on Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, which moves the jungle to an inner-city playground as we follow Mowgli navigating his way through the wilds of childhood. This production is directed by Jillian Petrie, TGS's Company Choreographer.


East Lynne Theater Offers Student Workshop And Performances Outside

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- In spite of not being able to perform as usual, East Lynne Theater Company's artistic director, Gayle Stahlhuth, figured out how two of its programs can continue: "Tales of the Victorians" and the "Student Theater Workshop." "Tales" aren't taking place as usual on the porches of B&Bs, and the "Workshop," usually 9 days inside, is now 4 days outside in July, but still with a performance.


Algonquin's Performing Arts Academy Opens Online Summer Session

(MANASQUAN, NJ) -- Algonquin Arts Theatre’s Performing Arts Academy begins its 2020 summer session next month with a lineup of 22 different online classes for students ages 8 to 17.  Classes begin on Monday, July 6 and continue through the week of August 10. New classes start each Monday during that time with one or two-week classes.

Woodbridge Presents Free Outdoor Concert Series Featuring Female Artists Each Wednesday

(WOODBRIDGE, NJ) -- With the country caught up in the midst of a global pandemic and a divisive presidential campaign; a major historical milestone lays all but forgotten: the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment (granting women the right to vote). Woodbridge Township has not forgotten and is celebrating women with an all female free outdoor concert series on Wednesday evenings. The diverse musical offerings feature such female luminaries as Amy Helm, Joanie Madden (of Cherish the Ladies fame) and Susan Werner.


Makin Waves Record of the Week: "Ghost Ship" by 40 Pound Hound

The eclectic Jersey Shore band 40 Pound Hound, featuring former members of Dirge, Black Nasa and The Atomic Bitchwax, flirt with stoner rock and grunge with a hefty helping of classic rock. Their four-song debut EP, “Ghost Ship,” stylistically ranges from Peter Green’s original version of Fleetwood Mac to Creedence Clearwater Revival to Three Dog Night and more.


Makin Waves Song of the Week: "Cut, Burn, Bruise" by Reality Suite

Reality Suite have released a five-song maxi single with a live version of the song “Cut, Burn, Bruise,” which also is the camera-friendly band’s latest video.

Visual Arts Center of New Jersey to Receive $20,000 Grant from The Summit Foundation

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Summit Foundation recently presented the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey (VACNJ) with a grant award of $20,000 for general operating expenses. This grant was part of The Summit Foundation’s biannual grant cycle which saw $409,000 in grants awarded to 21 local non-profit organizations.

Ocean County Library To Reopen July 6

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Ocean County Library has announced its plans to reopen on July 6. The Governor recently permitted libraries the ability to reopen at 25% capacity beginning July 2nd. The library has developed a phased reopening plan to provide service in the safest way possible.
