(LOS ANGELES, CA) -- With an air of uncertainty still looming over when tours and live gigs are going to be starting up again, many industry professionals still are looking for help to pay bills, and stay above water. Girls Behind The Rock Show aims to financially assist those in the earlier stages of their music industry careers, who have been financially impacted by COVID-19 by creating a relief fund that will help make it possible for them to continue pursuing a career in music. Girls Behind The Rock Show’s mission has always been to help change the music industry in positive and productive ways.
Their fund will primarily be to aid the Freelance side of the music industry. They want to help the gig workers, production crews, festival workers and more. These are industry workers who don't qualify for currently-available relief funds based on restrictions placed on what applicants must provide; these current relief funds are geared towards well-established touring personnel who can provide years of documented work, rather than the gig-to-gig workers who may struggle to provide lengthy work documentation or who have recently just begun their path into their chosen field.
Gig-to-gig workers still very much feel the effects of cancelled live events across the world. A poll was ran within our Facebook group of nearly 8,000 members, and have reached out to so many of the members to see that so many of them didn’t qualify. Their group's interaction rate has grown from 50.6% before the closing and cancelling of so many of these jobs to now 86.6%. GBTRS is a community that is looking to help one another and do what our organization can do.
Their founder, Shelby Chargin, knew something had to be done. “Understanding there are limitations that other funds setup that would prevent helping this specific group of young people who are just starting in the live industry. I knew it was time for our organization to step up and help.”
Girls Behind The Rock Show is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization.
