(PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ) -- What happens when some of our area’s most talented professional and student artists are given a 12” X 12” blank canvas and a chance to unleash their creativity for a great cause?
For the second consecutive year, West Windsor Arts Council will be hosting a “blank canvas” gala and art auction as a showcase for local talent, a celebration of the arts, and a unique way to raise funds to support the arts. The event will be held on Saturday, March 21, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm at the West Windsor Arts Center and will feature an invitational art show and online art auction, the creation of a collaborative piece of artwork, as well as dancing, DJ music, a wine pull, a raffle of artist-created centerpieces, and amazing food styled by the West Windsor Farmers’ Market.
This year the West Windsor Arts Council will also be honoring two of its founding members, Heidi Kleinman and Ted Ross. “Heidi and Ted’s enormous and continuing contributions have been central to our success and an inspiration to the community,” says Aylin Green, Executive Director. The couple have been actively involved with the organization since it was founded at their dining room table in 2002.
Also new this year is a special exhibit of artwork by students from the WW-P school district and a cameo by the “Out of This World Performance Troupe” featuring students of the West Windsor Arts Council. All Blank Canvas artwork, including the student pieces, will be available for purchase through a convenient and mobile-friendly online platform. The works will range from realism to postmodernism, using all manner of mediums, including fabric, photography, paint, and found materials.
“We are fortunate to have an active and engaged community who come together at events like this to have a great time and to be part of a bigger picture. Every ticket purchased will support our mission to provide high-quality cultural programming that brings people together and helps to transform the world around us through the power of the arts,” said Green.
Purchase tickets in advance for $75 per person or $85 at the door. Must be 21 plus. Proceeds from the event will support the West Windsor Arts Council’s education programs and multidisciplinary arts programming.
