(BAPTISTOWN, NJ) -- Gypsy-swing-jazz-folk quartet Pyrenesia will bring foot-stomping and hand-clapping music to the Old Stone Church on Friday, December 6 at 7:30pm at the Old Stone CoffeeHouse in Baptistown. Based in the Lambertville, Pyrenesia (peer-uh-nee-juh) plays original compositions based on the Django Reinhardt tradition of gypsy jazz, Eastern European and klezmer melodies—and anything else that swings!
The band's foot-stomping, dress-swirling, hand-clapping music lifts spirits and transports audiences to a musical landscape as vast and high as the mountain range that inspired the quartet’s name. The quartet members are Alan Rigoletto (guitar/vox), Daniella Fischetti (fiddle), Daniel Manchester (upright bass), and Tony Kovatch (accordion).
Early Bird tickets are available online for $15 until November 28. After that, the price rises to $20. Tickets may also be purchased prior to the concert beginning at 7:00pm when doors open.
Music critic Lisa Rich says Pyrenesia has “an old-timey sound that is just funky enough to make it relevant in today’s hipster music scene.”
In February, Pyrenesia released its first full-length album, Off-Beat Symphony. The album contains eight originals and four choice covers from their repertoire. It is available on iTunes, Bandcamp, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube Music, Google Play, CD Baby, and many other online music outlets.
Old Stone CoffeeHouse concerts are held in a 200-year-old fieldstone church, home to the First Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Hunterdon County (FUUFHC). It is located at the crossroads of Route 519 and Oak Summit Road, only a few miles from Frenchtown and the Delaware River.
Partial proceeds from Old Stone CoffeeHouse concerts benefit FUUFHC social justice partner Family Promise, which helps homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence. All are welcome to services at the Old Stone Church.
