Bridge Players Theatre Company Opens 44th Season With "Legally Blonde"

originally published: 08/12/2019

(BURLINGTON CITY, NJ) -- Bridge Players Theatre Company, the Burlington City-based community theatre group, will open its 44th season with the delightful musical comedy Legally Blonde: The Musical.  The production runs weekends from September 20 to October 5.

An award-winning musical based on the popular movie, Legally Blonde: The Musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams.  Though she appears to have it all, Elle’s world is turned upside down when her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her to attend Harvard Law School.  Determined to win him back, Elle charms her way into the prestigious institution.  With the support of her new friends, Elle tackles issues with peers, professors and Warner as she realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.

Legally Blonde: The Musical kicks off Bridge Players’ season-long theme, “Celebrating Women,” in which the theater company presents entertainment that highlights the strength of women in numerous ways.

Director/Choreographer Jessi Meisel of Sewell comments: “Not only was Legally Blonde: The Musical the first show I saw on Broadway, its message of ‘you can't judge a book by its cover’ will always be something I champion. As someone who is constantly judged by appearance, I feel we need to break the stereotypes we are used to.

“This cast has truly taken this message to heart and is bringing this show to life in the best way. Not only do we get to know one another, but we truly bond through the music and the message. Our cast is so good, and I cannot wait for our audiences to see and enjoy them. Maybe we can teach everyone to see ‘beyond all the blonde’.”
