Auditions Set For The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show

(MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse has announced open auditions for the award-winning Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir is a tuition-free, audition based, performance show choir that stems from Paper Mill Playhouse’s award-winning Arts Education and Outreach programs.  The choir consists of 40 to 50 singer/dancers between the ages of 16 and 22.  Auditions for this special ensemble will take place at Paper Mill Playhouse, 22 Brookside Drive in Millburn, NJ on the evenings of Sunday, October 4th; Monday, October 5th and Tuesday, October 6th by appointment only.  To make an audition appointment please call 973-315-1640 or email [email protected]. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir act as ambassadors to Paper Mill Playhouse with an array of performance opportunities throughout the community and beyond.  Over the last three seasons, The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir has performed for more than 250,000 people in the state of New Jersey at prestigious venues including: Lincoln Center, Sun Arena in Trenton, Mayo Center in Morristown, Bergen PAC in Englewood, Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, Kean University in Union, SOPAC in South Orange and were featured on-tour with New Jersey Ballet’s, Ballet on Broadway program and Vocal Ovation: A Show Choir Extravaganza.  

Students selected to be a part of this talented group will have to opportunity to fine tune their craft with FREE, intensive instruction that includes private voice training at the esteemed Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ.  The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir runs from October to June and rehearses on Sunday evenings.

Hoebee the Millburn Theater’s Producing Artistic Director.  “The award-winning Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir is a wonderful opportunity for students to perform at impressive venues and share their talents with thousands of New Jersey residents.”

The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir is led by a professional staff of artists including: Shayne Austin Miller (Director), Matt Lowy (Music Director), Viraj Lal (Vocal Coach), Joshua Schnetzer (Dance Director), Meg Zervoulis (Music Consultant), John Zeitoun (Company Manager), Cassie McCartney (Associate Company Manager), Lisa Cooney (Paper Mill Playhouse Director of Education), Mickey McNany (Paper Mill Playhouse Theatre School Director) and Carrie Rubino (Associate Director of Educational Programs).

AUDITION INFORMATION

OPEN AUDITIONS FOR THE 15–16 SEASON ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

(Half-hour appointments between the hours of 6:00pm-9:00pm.)

Sunday, October 4th    6 – 9PM

Monday, October 5th   6 – 9PM

Tuesday, October 6th   6 – 9PM

 

If you are not available during these times, Paper Mill Playhouse will take a wait list for the next available date.

FOR THE AUDITION: Prepare an upbeat pop or musical theater piece of approximately 32 bars that best demonstrates your vocal range. Bring sheet music, in the key you will sing it, in a binder or single sheet taped together that contains the full piano accompaniment. An accompanist will be provided. Students may not perform a cappella or to an audio recording. Students will be taught a brief dance combination, so please bring suitable footwear. Callback auditions will be held on Sunday, October 11th.
