(Fair Lawn, NJ) -- Fair Lawn Recreation Departments OLD LIBRARY THEATRE will present the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning musical RENT by Jonathan Larson this September. The show dates are September 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 and 27.

The cast of seventeen men and women come from all over the New Jersey and New York metro area. All are fiercely talented, all are passionate about the show, they are a family. Each bringing something to the show that no one else could.

The story focuses on the relationships that are forged over the course of a year. We journey with Mark (Nicholas Ericksen, of Hackettstown) a film maker living in Alphabet City and his roommate Roger (Craig Tiede, of Jersey City), a rock musician who is HIV+, as they struggle to live day to day.

Along the way we also meet Mimi (Evelyn Lugo, of Fair Lawn) a dancer who is living in the same building as Mark and Roger. Mimi is battling addiction and is also HIV+. She meets Roger by chance and everything changes for her.

There are two other love stories that are prominently featured. The first, is between Collins (Frank Chadwick, of North Bergen) and Angel (Alex Perez, of Guttenberg), begins when Collins is mugged on his way to visit Mark and Roger. He is found by Angel who takes him in and helps nurse his wounds, both physical and emotional. The other is between Maureen (Annette Coviello, of Mt. Arlington) a performance artist and ex-girlfriend of Mark, and Joanne (Jasmin Serrano, of Wayne) a pro bono lawyer. They all face the possibility of being evicted from their homes by their one time friend Benny (Devin Peacock, of Bloomfield) who buys the building and wants to turn it into commercial office space and apartments. Their stories are told with song, humor and raw emotion.

In addition to the main characters, the ensemble helps recreate pieces of the story of life in Alphabet city . They are John Judge, of Ramsey, Michelle Stern, of Fair Lawn, Candice Gibson, of Montclair, Brendan J. Bartlett, of Norwood, Carly Fiore, of Bloomingdale, Paula Ribeiro, of Ramsey, Jayson James, of Bayonne, Jessica Pivko, of Parsippany, and Shakespeare Ngo, of Guttenberg.

The Old Library Theatre is committed to bringing Broadway quality theater to its audience at an affordable price. The show dates are September 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 and 27. The Friday and Saturday show are at 8 pm and Sundays at 3pm. The show will be presented at the George Frey Center for Performing Arts and Recreation located at 10-10 20th St., Fair Lawn, NJ.
