(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Wesley Stace & The English UK Show with special guest Peter Holsapple will perform at The Saint in Asbury Park on Saturday, April 8 at 8:15pm. The show is presented by DJ Rich Russo's "Anything, Anything" show and UMTPresents. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. You might remember Wesley Stace from his former stage name, John Wesley Harding.
After using the stage name John Wesley Harding, under which he has performed and recorded for the past 25 years, Stace chose to step out from behind his well-established pseudonym for Self-Titled in honor of the increasingly personal nature of his new material.
“Novels seem to take care of the intellectual business for me these days, and my songs have become a lot more intimate and autobiographical, requiring a different musical treatment entirely. It seemed ridiculous to sing them under any name but my own,” notes Stace, adding, “It’s time to bring everything under one roof.”
Under his legal name, he has written four novels. He is also a university teacher and the curator of Wesley Stace's Cabinet of Wonders and leader of Wesley Stace & The English UK. This year, Yep Roc Records will release Wesley Stace’s John Wesley Harding.
Peter Holsapple was one of the key figures on the North Carolina jangle pop and new wave scene, He is perhaps best known to his fans as singer, guitarist, and songwriter along with Chris Stamey in the dB's, but he's also worked with a wide range of other acts, been a sideman with R.E.M. and Hootie & the Blowfish, and was a member of the roots rock supergroup the Continental Drifters.
