(CLIFTON, NJ) -- The Theater League of Clifton presents “Some Enchanted Evening, the Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein,” May 5, 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14 at the Theresa Aprea Theater in Clifton. Songs in the two-act musical revue come from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved Broadway productions such as “Oklahoma,” “The Sound of Music,” “South Pacific,” and “The King and I.”
Selections include “A Cockeyed Optimist,” “The Surrey with the Fringe on Top,” “A Wonderful Guy,” “Hello Young Lovers,” “A Bell is No Bell,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” “Shall We Dance,” and “Some Enchanted Evening.”
Cast members include Clifton residents, Dorothy Dobkowski, Scott Canion; Roxbury residents Alexandra Martins and Peggy Valenti; and Pedro Jimenez of Hoboken.
Teressa (Tess) Kallay of Bloomfield is the director and choreographer for the production. Kallay previously directed “World Goes ‘Round” and “Grand Night for Singing” for the theater league.
Jalmari Vanamo serves as the musical director. Vanamo, along with John Girvin, will perform onstage as pianists, complementing the singers. The show is produced by Elizabeth Eisenmenger and Tara Freifeld is the stage manager.
Ticket prices for adults are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. For students and seniors, prices are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Group rates are available. Friday and Saturday night performances begin at 8 p.m., while the two Sunday matinees will start at 2 p.m.
The Theresa Aprea Theater is located at 199 Scoles Ave., Clifton. The theater league invites audiences to “join us as we sing the night away with 35 songs from the golden age of Broadway.”
The Theater League of Clifton, founded in 2005, is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering an appreciation of the arts through theatrical performances, while providing quality entertainment for all ages. The theater league welcomes volunteers in all aspects of performance and production. Mark Peterson is the president of the organization.
Some Enchanted Evening is presented through special arrangement with R & H Theatricals for Jerry Kravat Entertainment Services, Inc.; music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and concept by Jeffrey B. Moss.
