The Barn Theatre of Montville To Hold Auditions For "She Loves Me"

The Barn Theatre in Montville, New Jersey continues its 92nd season by holding open auditions on September 8th & 9th at 7:00pm for its upcoming production of She Loves Me, written by Joe Masteroff with music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick.  The production will be directed by Scott Hart with musical direction by Jack Bender and choreography by Roxanna Wagner. Audition Dates: Sunday September 8, 2019 at 7:00pm and Monday September 9th at 7:00pm. Call backs (if needed) on Saturday September 14th at 1:00pm.

She Loves Me is a warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of old world elegance. Set in a 1930s European perfumery, we meet shop clerks, Amalia and Georg, who, more often than not, don't see eye to eye. After both respond to a "lonely hearts advertisement" in the newspaper, they now live for the love letters that they exchange, but the identity of their admirers remains unknown. Join Amalia and Georg to discover the identity of their true loves... and of all the twists and turns along the way!

Actors are asked to arrive to sign in within the first hour of the audition start time. All roles are available. Casting is open, and newcomers are especially welcomed. Crew and other volunteers are also needed for the show. If interested, please contact info@barntheatre.org.

The Barn Theatre is located at 32 Skyland Drive in Montville, NJ, just minutes off Route 287 (Exit 47). For more information or directions, call 973-334-9320 ext. 5, or visit www.barntheatre.org

Cast Requirements:

Arpad Laszlo: BARITONE. Delivery boy at Maraczek's Parfumerie. His exuberance is infectious and commitment to his job remarkable. He is ambitious and adorable. Must look late teens/early 20’s.

Ladislav Sipos: BARITONE. Not the brightest employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie. A confidant to Georg, he is an optimistic family man, stays out of trouble, just does what he’s told. Impish, cute, funny and huggable. looks 40’s+

Steven Kodaly: TENOR. A well respected and liked employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie. Though he is considered dapper and occasionally charming, he is more of a shallow womanizer. Must move well. Looks late 20’s - 40’s.

Mr. Maraczek: BARITONE. Owner of Maraczek's Parfumerie. With a commanding presence, his dedication to the trade is rivaled only by his faithfulness to his wife. Very likable, kind older man. Looks 60’s+

Georg Nowack: TENOR/BARITONE. An established employee of Maraczek's Parfumerie, he resembles a hopeless romantic. Shy, intelligent, and soft spoken. But a bit quirky, funny/silly. Someone you just fall in love with and want to pinch his cheeks. He is like the son Mr. Maraczek never had. Looks 20’s-40’s

Amalia Balash: SOPRANO. The eager new employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie. Despite being a skilled saleswoman, she easily becomes intimidated and nervous. Attractive, bright, and a lover of literature. Looks 20’-30’s (Please have last 16 bars of “Ice Cream” prepared & in your back pocket, if asked)

Ilona Ritter: MEZZO-SOPRANO, BELT. Employed at Maraczek's Parfumerie. She is sexy and learned in the ways of romance, but longing for something more from the game of love. Perhaps not the “brightest bulb” in the shop, but sexy and sweet. MUST move very well. Looks 20’s-30’s

Waiter: TENOR. An eccentric, flamboyant and over-the-top zealous waiter insistent on creating a romantic atmosphere. Looking for someone who is comedic, great timing and facial expressions, but can show a tender/serious side. Must also be a convincible “female” shopper in act 1 “music box” scene. Age open.
