(NUTLEY, NJ) -- Nutley Little Theatre presents "The Last Night of Ballyhoo," a comedy-drama set in pre-WWII Atlanta that will open NLT’s 2016-2017 season on Friday, September 9. Written by Alfred Uhry, the play is set in 1939 Atlanta , where a German-Jewish family is preparing for ballyhoo, an upper-class cotillion. An unexpected visitor arrives, causing the family to reexamine their beliefs and the identities that they have come to accept as their own.
Directed by Bill Kaufman of Paterson, the cast includes Ali Archetti of East Hanover, Debbie Buchsbaum of River Vale, Laura Valente of Nutley, J. Michael Baran of Clifton, Matt Coakley of Long Hill, Erin Cook of Westfield and Ross Pohling of Westwood. Stage manager is Anne Bertasso of Bloomfield who also adapted the set. Lighting designer is James Gardner of Nutley. Lynne Oliver of Bloomfield is the costume designer.
Evening performances will be on Sept. 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 24. Matinee performances are on Sept.11, 18 and 24. Curtain for evening shows is 8 p.m., and for matinees, 2 p.m. The opening performance on Sept. 9 is a benefit for the Franklin Reformed Church.

There is a $2 discount (matinees only) for students and senior citizens who show IDs at the box office.
