Gary Numan Comes To White Eagle Hall

originally published: 11/13/2017

Gary Numan Comes To White Eagle Hall(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Gary Numan, the electro and Industrial music pioneer plays White Eagle Hall, December 5 at 8:00pm. Some three decades ago, many claim  Numan changed the sound of popular music forever in an appearance on Saturday Night Live when he performed the breakout ‘new wave’ hit Cars and Praying To The Aliens to an audience of 40 million.

Often considered a musician’s musician, Numan’s influence has been recognized by a diverse array of the world’s greatest artists—from Prince to Lady Gaga, Jack White to Kanye West; Beck to Queens Of The Stone Age, and The Foo Fighters to Nine Inch Nails. Numan has joined Nine Inch Nails – who famously cover Cars in concert – on tours at the personal invitation of Trent Reznor. “I was always impressed by the way Gary Numan found his own voice–and it was unusual–but it was unmistakably him and boldly him,” said  Reznor. “I see me doing what I learned from him.”

While Numan’s unique, pioneering style continues to connect with fans from the worlds of EDM, Industrial, Hip-Hop, Metal, and Indie-rock, he remains as focused as ever in pursuing his own singular vision. Savage (Songs from a Broken World), his 21st studio album, was released in September, entering the UK Album Chart at #2 - Numan's highest charting album since Telekon in 1980.

Savage (Songs from a Broken World) is a concept record that blends Western and Eastern cultures, depicting a post-apocalyptic world that is now an entire desert as a result of global warming. "The songs are about the things that people do in such a harsh and terrifying environment," says Numan in Alt360º Radio interview. "It's about a desperate need to survive and they do awful things in order to do so, and some are haunted by what they've done. That desire to be forgiven, along with some discovered remnants of an old religious book, ultimately encourages religion to resurface, and it really goes downhill from there."

While Numan’s unique, pioneering style continues to connect with fans and artists from the worlds of EDM, Industrial, Hip-Hop, Metal, and Indie-rock, his latest record and concerts indicate that this true innovator remains as focused as ever in pursuing his own singular vision. Perhaps Prince said it best: “There are still people trying to work out what a genius Gary Numan is.”
