Friday's Child To Play Crossroads

originally published: 05/26/2016

Friday's Child To Play Crossroads
(GARWOOD, NJ) --New Jersey's own Friday's Child will perform at Crossroads in Garwood, NJ on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 9:00pm. Fronted by singer, songwriter, guitarist, Tom Walker, Friday's Child actively toured the US from its formation in 1996 to 2004.  The band reformed in 2013 to work on a new album of songs with legendary producer, Bob Johnston, in the beginning of 2013.

Mr. Johnston was responsible for the seminal works of Bob Dylan (Highway 61, Blonde on Blonde, Nashville Skyline), Simon & Garfunkel (Parsley Sage, Sounds of Silence), Johnny Cash (Live at Folsom Prison, Live at San Quentin), Leonard Cohen (Songs from a Room, Songs of Love and Hate), and many top artists of the 60s and 70s. He passed away in August of 2015, and the band never got to complete the work on the album with Johnston.

"I was very humbled that Bob thought so highly of my writing and playing and the synergy of the band to have worked with us, considering the giants that he produced," Walker said in a recent interview. "He really delved into the songs that we have assembled for this recording and helped us organize them into a cohesive album, old school, which was consistent of our vision for the material," Walker added.

Walker, together with Haddad, has spent the last ten years producing live concert and documentary video content for their company, Digital Cafe Tour. They are currently deep in production on a documentary film about Bob's work, along with  Co-Executive Producer, Chuck Armstrong, called "Is it Rolling?"

This is a rare opportunity to catch Friday's Child live in their home state. The band has largely focused on producing live music content for various television portals. Recently, Walker partnered with the owner of Crossroads, Lee Frankel, to produce a live music series at the venue called "Liner Notes."

"We are very busy with pre-production and sizzle reel shoots," Frankel said, "and we are excited to be bringing this content to market, produced right here in Garwood. A lot of history here at Crossroads. This series is basically allowing the world to hear and see the great music that goes on here every night."

"We used to play out four nights a week," added Walker. "Now, if it isn't content, people don't consume it. So, I have had my focus on producing television. We are, however, going forward with the new album to finish the work we did with Bob Johnston. We hope to infuse it with Bob Johnston's rebellious spirit and honor his belief on our work."

Friday's Child's live show was the thing that put them on the map. They are a true song-driven power trio with laser focus on writing memorable melodies and insightful lyrics that resonate with their audience.

Crossroads is located at 78 North Avenue in Garwood NJ.
