Centenary Stage Company To Hold Auditions For "Hair"

(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- The Centenary Stage Company, a professional not for profit theater in residency on the Campus of Centenary University, will be holding, non-equity open auditions for the 2018 summer stock production ofHAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock musical.  Featuring a book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermott. Set in the East Village, Hair tells the story of a group of hippies who celebrate peace, love, and the freedom of choice, during the shadow of the Vietnam War.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 24 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm in the Lackland Center Performing Arts Center located on the campus of Centenary University at 715 Grand Ave Hackettstown, NJ. The production will be directed & choreographed by Lea Antolini Assistant Professor of Theater and Dance Centenary University. 

Centenary Stage Company is seeking dynamic actors, singers and movers – specifically singers with strong pop/rock abilities. Performers should prepare 16-32 bars of a rock or contemporary song from musical theatre genre.   An accompanist will be provided. There will be a movement portion of the audition. Please be prepared to move. No appointment necessary, however, interested performers are encouraged to sign up for the open call.  To sign up call the Centenary Stage Company directly.  Performers will be seen on a first come first serve basis.

All roles are available. Centenary Stage Company is seeking a diverse company. Ethnic performers are strongly encouraged to attend.

Hair will open July 26 and run through Aug 5, with performances Thursdays through Sundays, in the Sitnik Theater of The Lackland Performing Arts Center.  Housing will be provided for the principle performers as well as some of the “tribe”
