Brian Fallon has announced rescheduled world tour dates celebrating his eagerly awaited new album, Local Honey, available via his own Lesser Known Records and Thirty Tigers. North American dates will begin July 3 with a very special solo concert at Woodstock, NY’s historic Colony, followed by a full headline schedule backed by his longtime live band, The Howling Weather. Rescheduled dates include a pair of shows at Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, which will now take place in October.
In addition, Fallon and his band will also make a very special festival appearance at the upcoming Ohana Festival 2020, curated by Eddie Vedder and Kelly Slater and set for September 27 at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, CA. A wide-ranging European run is now set for January 2021, including stops in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. All tickets from the original dates will be valid for the new shows.
“I am happy to share that we have rescheduled both the North American and UK/EU tours,” says Fallon. “Looking forward to seeing everybody, and I hope you enjoy the album. Stay healthy!”
Fallon’s first new LP in two years, Local Honey sees the New Jersey-based singer-songwriter melding myriad strains of American music with contemporary consequence, ambitious energy, and seemingly infinite lyrical power. Songs such as “21 Days,” “You Have Stolen My Heart,” “I Don’t Mind (If I’m With You),” and the recently premiered “Horses“ offer a deeply personal glimpse into Fallon’s everyday world, revealing universal truths through hard-earned insight and unflinching honesty.
“21 Days” arrived earlier this year alongside an equally powerful companion video, streaming now via YouTube. The track was met by worldwide acclaim, with NME declaring it “one of (Fallon’s) most soulful tracks to date.” “21 Days” “chronicles the New Jersey songwriter’s attempt to kick nicotine and casts the drug as a long-lost friend or lover,” wrote Rolling Stone. “It’s a seemingly mundane topic — at least to those who never tried to quit smoking — but Fallon makes it riveting as he ticks off the days until he will no longer feel the craving.” American Songwriter praised “21 Days” as “another example of (Fallon’s) turned page and personal growth,” adding, “The song functions as a self-help track that is as much cathartic to Fallon as it is relevant to all listener, who are easily able to relate to the lyrics…The somber vibe is carried along with a simple elegance of the music which makes the song one that is easily played over again.”
“You Have Stolen My Heart“ followed, joined by a compelling official video streaming now via YouTube. Like its predecessor, the single received immediate critical applause, with Rolling Stone hailing it as “a tender ballad.” “Everything is in the present with Fallon’s intricate storytelling,” wrote American Songwriter, adding, “The video, shot in black and white, leaves a stark, blank canvas that lets the track speak for itself. Emotional, raw, and perfectly sewn, this love story is delicately woven.”
Local Honey was the Makin Waves Record of the Week for March 25, 2020. Read the review by Bob Makin here.
