Air Supply performed at Bergen Performing Arts Center (BergenPAC) in Englewood on March 23rd and Debra L. Rothenberg was on hand to cover the show...
If you have never been to an Air Supply concert, you are missing a wonderful evening out. You will shake, rattle and roll and shed a tear or two. Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell have been together for 44 years and have performed over 5000 shows together. It is easy to tell how much these 2 men admire one another and love what they do.
When the band left the stage at one point, Mr Russell recited a poem he wrote about when he was the only boy in a class of 34 girls. Needless to say he was quite popular. He loves words and in a deep sexy voice, deeper than when he sings, he had the audience soaking in every word he said.
Air Supply is one of those bands that sounds just as great live as they do on vinyl..or CD. Their show is a greatest hits and someone who has never seen them perform live or may not be familiar with their catalog of songs will find themselves saying “I know that song” over and over. They recently were featured performing live on an episode of “The Bachelor,” exposing themselves to millions of young viewers who may not have heard of them before. They will now realize what they have been missing.
If you love romance and love, Air Supply will make you smile and tear with such greats as “Even The Nights Are Better,” “Every Woman In The World.” “Here I Am,” “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All,” and “The One That You Love” which is especially exciting as Mr. Russell and Mr. Hitchcock leave the stage and get up close and personal with their adoring fans, holding and shaking hands, and singing directly to those lucky enough to be in the audience. They stop singing and let the audience sing the rest of the song before joining back in and it will give you chills…it is simply wonderful. The same can be said for “Lost InLove” where the audience again sings along, bring a huge smile to the faces of the band.
Musically and vocally, Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell compliment one another beautifully, and the band, consisting of Aviv Cohen on drums, Aaron Mclain on guitar, Mirko Tessandori on keyboards, and Doug Gild on bass are flawless.
