Cheap Girls Announce North American Tour

Published by New Jersey Stage

Lansing, MI CHEAP GIRLS recently unveiled two strings of tour dates that will take the band from coast-to-coast, and will also bring the band through Canada for the first time. The first run of dates takes the band to the fourth annual Awesome Fest in San Diego on September 5th, while the October dates mark Cheap Girls' first tour through Canada down to Gainesville's The Fest later that month. Along the way, the band will be playing with Lightning Bolt, Japandroids, Sundowner, Carpenters and Cobra Skulls, to name a few (see all dates below).

Named one of Alternative Press' 100 Bands You Need To Know in 2010, Cheap Girls are touring in support of their 2009 sophomore release on Paper + Plastick Records, My Roaring 20's. The Michigan trio received critical praise for their jangly, power-pop gems, leaving the Detroit Metro Times to comment "The thick, distortion-drenched three- and four-chord blitzes recall such pre-grunge icons as the Lemonheads, Superchunk and Buffalo Tom, with their amped-up, highly melodic odes to slackers, potheads and dreamers," and Alternative Press adding ,"they fashion catchy, distortion-drenched paeans that seep a vaguely melancholy air (credit the downbeat vocal delivery) and hit like a knuckle-protruding frog punch. Their most immediate touchstone is Bill Janovitz's Buffalo Tom, whose vocals frontmam Ian Graham greatly resembles, though the crunchy, overdriven major chord guitar melodies equally call to mind acts like Superchunk, the Meices, Seaweed and early Lemonheads."

My Roaring 20's is available from Paper + Plastick Records on white, clear/orange dust, and clear/orange drop vinyl, which includes a CD and a limited edition promo poster. Also available is the band's debut, Find Me A Drink Home, on white wax and includes a CD version of the album.
